BKK Bistro & Bar Comes Home to Yishun: 80-Cent Boat Noodles Back at SAFRA Yishun Since 27 May
The Thai boat-noodle brand BKK Bistro & Bar opened its new outlet at SAFRA Yishun on 27 May 2026, returning the brand to the neighbourhood where it first launched a decade earlier at ORTO Yishun. The new unit is on Level 1, unit #01-04, and runs daily from noon to 2am, including the eve of and the day of public holidays. The opening brings the iconic 80-cent boat noodles back to Yishun alongside an expanded Pad Thai, Mookata, Gai Yang and Som Tam menu.
The brand's SAFRA listing frames the move as a homecoming. BKK Bistro & Bar launched at ORTO Yishun in 2016 and refined its menu over the decade since, adding the Pad Thai and Mookata lines that now sit beside the original boat noodles and Gai Yang (Thai street grilled chicken). The SAFRA Yishun outlet is the brand's only Yishun location after the ORTO closure.
The 80-cent boat noodle, explained
The headline price at BKK Bistro & Bar is $0.80 per bowl of boat noodles. That is not a typo. The small bowl is the brand's signature loss-leader: a dark, peppery pork-and-soy broth with rice noodles, pork slices and a splash of pork blood, served Thai street-vendor style in a portion small enough to order three or four at a sitting. Regulars stack two to four bowls per person and round out the table with the larger dishes.
The 80-cent price is locked and is explicitly excluded from the SAFRA member discount. The 10% SAFRA member and affiliated member discount applies only to selected items, with alcohol and promotional items also excluded. If you are a SAFRA member and planning a meal, the discount lands on the Gai Yang, Som Tam, Pad Thai and the Mookata sets, not the boat noodles or the beer.
What else is on the expanded menu
Beyond the boat noodles, the menu has three anchor sections. The Gai Yang (Thai street grilled chicken) is the second signature, a marinated half-bird charcoaled on the spot and served with the Isaan-style Som Tam (green papaya salad) on the side. The Pad Thai is the stir-fried noodle staple, available with prawns or chicken, and is the safest order for a first-time visitor who is not ready for the boat noodle broth. The Mookata is the Thai barbecue-steamboat hybrid, sold as a set for two or more, with the charcoal pot brought to the table and the pork, chicken and seafood platters ordered add-on.
Alcohol is a real category here. The bar runs Thai beers (Chang, Singha) and a short cocktail list, and the 2am close makes this one of the few late-night Thai dining options in Yishun. Most neighbouring kitchens in the SAFRA Yishun compound close by 10pm.
Why this matters for the Yishun dining map
The North Singapore dining guide has a gap in late-night Thai food, and BKK Bistro at SAFRA Yishun is the most direct fill for it. The SAFRA compound already houses Springleaf Prata Place (open till 10pm) and McDonald's, but neither covers the 11pm-to-2am window for a sit-down meal with alcohol. BKK Bistro's noon-to-2am daily hours slot into that gap.
The opening also gives the SAFRA Yishun compound its first dedicated Mookata option, which is the Thai communal meal most requested by the SAFRA member base. Bookings run through the BKK Bistro & Bar reservations page, and the outlet takes walk-ins until the last seating at 1am. The unit sits on the same Level 1 corridor as the SAFRA Yishun main entrance, opposite the function rooms, which makes it the most accessible dining unit in the club for non-members visiting on a day pass.
