World Cup 2026 at Chong Pang: Yishun's $1 Neighbourhood Watch Party Runs Through the Final
For the price of a can of Coke, you can watch the biggest match of the football calendar surrounded by a few hundred screaming Yishun neighbours instead of a paywalled sports bar. Chong Pang Community Club is one of more than 50 community clubs islandwide running live screenings of the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout stages, and it is the only North-side CC charging a token $1 entry for the semi-finals and final.
The screenings take place at the Chong Pang Social Space on the ground floor of Block 166 Yishun Ring Road (#01-741), not inside the main CC building. Walk-ins are welcome but registration through the People's Association onePA portal is recommended because the venue fills up for the marquee fixtures.
What is screening, and when
The Chong Pang screenings cover the last three matches of the tournament, all of which kick off in the small hours Singapore time:
- Semi-Final 1 on Wednesday 15 July 2026, 2am to 6am
- Semi-Final 2 on Thursday 16 July 2026, 2am to 6am (today)
- Final on Monday 20 July 2026, 3am, with Spain facing holders Argentina at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey
The Straits Times confirms that Argentina are chasing a second straight title, a feat no country has managed since Brazil in 1962, while Spain are after their second World Cup. The third-place play-off between France and England on Sunday 19 July at 5am is being screened at neighbouring Nee Soon East CC and Nee Soon South CC instead, so plan accordingly if you want that fixture.
Why the $1 entry is worth the taxi fare
$1 is a token, not a real ticket price. The fee exists so the CC can manage crowd numbers and hand out the PAssion CARES yuu Points to members who tap their card on site. What you actually pay for is the atmosphere: Mediacorp's free-to-air broadcast is the same feed you would get at home, but the noise from a few hundred Yishun residents reacting to a goal at 3am is the part you cannot replicate on a sofa.
Chong Pang is one of only a handful of North West district CCs screening the final. The full People's Association schedule lists Chong Pang CC (Social Space at Block 166, Yishun Ring Road) in the Final line-up alongside Nee Soon East CC and Nee Soon South CC, which means Yishun residents have three nearby options for the 20 July fixture if one is full.
Getting there and what to eat before
The Chong Pang Social Space sits at Block 166 Yishun Ring Road, a short walk from Khatib MRT (NS14) and a slightly longer one from Yishun MRT (NS13). Buses 804, 811, 851, 852, 853 and 854 all stop along Yishun Ring Road. If you are driving in for a 3am kick-off, parking is plentiful and free after 2.30am in the HDB carparks opposite the block.
Because the matches end well past midnight, your pre-match supper options matter. Chong Pang Food City, the hawker centre at Block 104 Yishun Ring Road, is a 6-minute walk and runs late. For something closer, the 24-hour Chong Pang Nasi Lemak stall at Block 275 Yishun Street 22 is the local default for late-night football crowds, and Springleaf Prata Place inside SAFRA Yishun stays open until 10pm if you want a sit-down meal before a midnight kick-off.
Bring cash for food and a light jacket. The Social Space is open-air on one side and gets cold once the crowd thins after half-time. Do not bring outside alcohol; the CC runs a dry venue policy at all its screenings.
